Privacy
This page explains what this website does with information about you. The site collects very little. The sections below show where your information goes.
Please note
This privacy notice is a draft that describes how the site works today. It still needs to be checked before the site goes live, and it isn't legal advice.
Who is responsible
This site is published by Bilal Bashir, Economics teacher. The person or organisation legally responsible for the information on this page is [Controller name] (to be confirmed). Their address is [Postal address] (to be confirmed), and they are based in Karachi, Pakistan.
You can send questions about this notice to mbilalbashir@gmail.com.
What the site collects
The site only keeps what you choose to send it: the booking form, a review, or a question to the chat assistant, each explained below. Apart from that it collects nothing about you. No page has analytics, adverts or tracking pixels, and nothing from another company loads unless you press play on a video. You don’t need an account or a login.
The fonts are stored on this website too, so reading a page doesn’t send a request to another company.
Cookies and browser storage
The site sets no cookies for visitors. During your visit it saves one small note in your browser: that the booking pop-up has been shown, so it doesn’t appear on every page. The note is deleted when you close the tab or the browser, holds nothing about who you are, and is never sent anywhere. The only cookie is the one that keeps Bilal Bashir signed in to his own admin pages. Nothing here tracks you, so there is no cookie banner.
Server logs
The site is hosted by [Hosting provider] (to be confirmed). Like any web host, its servers may record basic details of each visit. These can include your IP address, the time, the page you opened and your browser type. The host uses these records for security and to keep the site working. The records belong to the host, and the host’s own privacy policy covers them instead of this notice.
The contact form
The enquiry form on the contact page sends your answers through WhatsApp. When you press the button, the form writes your answers into a WhatsApp message to Bilal Bashir and opens WhatsApp. Your message goes to him only when you press send there.
At the same time, a copy of your answers is saved on this website, so that an enquiry isn’t lost if you don’t press send in WhatsApp. The copy holds what you typed into the form: the student name, the parent or guardian name, the level, the email address, the WhatsApp number, the exam board, the campus you choose and its class times, and your message. It is kept in a file on the website’s own server, and only Bilal Bashir can read it, behind a password. Nobody else is sent it, and there is no analytics company or form service involved.
He deletes a copy once he has replied to you. You can ask him to delete yours at any time, and he will. Once your message is in WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own privacy policy covers that copy.
Reviews you write
If you write a review on the reviews page, your name, whether you are a student or a parent, how you want your name to appear, and the review itself are saved in a file on this website’s own server. Only Bilal Bashir can read it, behind a password.
Nothing you write appears on the site until he publishes it. When he does, the review is shown with your name the way you chose: your full name, your initials, or no name at all. You can ask him to change or delete your review at any time, and he will.
The video lessons
The home page shows lessons from Bilal Bashir’s YouTube channel. They do not load when the page opens. What you see is a still picture saved on this website, so simply visiting the page, or scrolling past the videos, sends nothing to YouTube or to Google.
When you press play, and only then, the player is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com. From that moment YouTube can see your IP address and information about your browser, and it may store data on your device so the player works. That part is YouTube’s own, and Google’s privacy policy covers it. If you never press play, none of it happens.
The chat assistant
The “Ask a question” box sends your question to this website’s server. The server first looks for a matching answer among answers written for this site.
If there is no ready answer, your last few chat messages may be sent to OpenRouter, an outside AI service, so that an AI model can write a reply. OpenRouter passes them to the company that runs that model. Their own privacy policies cover what happens to your messages there.
When the AI writes a reply, the question and the reply may be saved so that the next person who asks the same thing gets the same answer without the AI being asked again. Only general questions are saved: nothing with an email address or a phone number in it, and nothing long enough to be about one person’s own situation. Your IP address is not saved with it. Saved answers are stored with Upstash, a database service, and kept until Bilal Bashir deletes them.
Your chat itself isn’t saved, and it disappears when you leave or reload the page. To stop misuse, the server keeps your IP address in its memory for a short time, to count how many questions are sent. Please don’t type personal details into the chat, such as a phone number or a student’s full name.
If you send a message directly
If you send a message by email or a messaging app, it stays in the normal inbox of that service. Your message is used to answer your question and to arrange lessons. After that, messages are kept for [Message retention period] (to be confirmed). They are not sold, published or used for marketing.
Students under 18
If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian should make the first contact. The only information asked for is what’s needed to arrange and run lessons. The lesson arrangement is confirmed in writing with the parent or guardian before lessons start.
Your rights and the law
Data protection law in [Governing jurisdiction] (to be confirmed) may give you some rights. You may be able to find out what information is held about you. You may also be able to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Please send any request to the email address in the first section.
Changes to this notice
This notice was last checked on [Date last reviewed] (to be confirmed). The site may later add something else that involves another company, such as a working contact form. If it does, this page will be updated before that change goes live.
Details with a dotted underline are still to be confirmed, such as the contact details, the hosting company, the country whose law applies and the review date. The sections about messages and about students under 18 are also a draft. They need to be confirmed before the site goes live.
